Whiskey Ware

Here is a proto-type whiskey/scotch set with two rocks glasses, three shot glasses and a decanter patterned after both Japanese tea ware and country style mash whiskey jugs.

Bottles...

I know I've been lax in posting the last few weeks but it hasn't been for lack of working. I've been on a throwing kick and taking a pottery class. I've probably thrown 3-4 dozen pots the last few weeks. Unfortunately, most are either waiting to be fired or aren't glazed yet. So here are two bottle forms I made today as experiments using coil building.

I managed to get another couple of hours in on Scott's bust...I'm still thinking about the theme of this series..."Hoods & Collars"...?

Lesson from the Maestro

I recently had the honor to meet an Italian master stone carver and renaissance throw back...Dario Tazzioli...I was introduced to him by Olivia Kim an accomplished sculptor who also happens to date Dario. Dario was visiting the US for the Holidays and showed me how to trim a feather into a nib. The pictures are of some of our experimentation with the newly cut nib...Dario has also promised to send me recipes to make my own inks out of such materials as oak galls and black walnuts...stay tuned and I'll post them on the blog...also I'm hoping to figure out a way to go and study in Italy with Dario in the near future...if anyone wants to donate to my fund...(wink, wink)...

Another victim...

Scott is my latest subject for a portrait bust. I'll probably use roughly the same pose as the study I did of him a few days ago...I'm still, toying with a theme for this series...maybe...Hoods & Collars...? Juxtaposition of classes...plebeian vs. aristocratic...? Still working on that...
