I ditched the anatomical model and went with my gut. Which is what I should have done from the beginning...but I did learn a lot about the anatomy of a horned owl. My friend Rob is continually amused at how I start my pieces. I tend to scaffold the basic form geometrically at first. By breaking it down to abstract shapes I'm better able to control the proportions prior to sculpting in the round. Take it for what you will.
